Silicates are widely used as silicon fertilisers. Different granular, liquid and powdery formulations are developed for the use on hydroponics, mixing in potting soil and foliar fertilisation. Other well-known sources of silicon are: basic slag, cement, diatomaceous earth, rice chaff, rice hulls and water glass. Calcium silicate is widely used for liming.
